Chimney damage caused by storms

Within the past several years Kansas has seen many thunderstorms come and go. There can be a number of areas a home can be affected by a storm, but the are that Full Service Chimney can help with is chimney damage caused by storms. In late June we had a customer call us after a horrible thunderstorm swept through the Kansas City area. Like many in the area, branches had fallen, causing crumbling damage to their chimney. After our CSIA Certified technicians finished a full detailed report of the damages and safety concerns on both the interior and exterior of the chimney, our customer decided it best to move forward with all necessary repairs. The chimney damage caused by the storm required a full roof up masonry rebuild. However, before we could begin that process, the customer had to choose the brick that they felt would best suit them and their house. Once the brick was chosen and ordered, the work could begin. After the demolition of the old chimney, the new masonry chimney could be built. This rebuild was also equipped with a properly installed stainless steal reline within the flue, to help prevent chimney fires in the future. We then installed a new over hanging crown. This new crown will be ideal to prevent direct water damage on the new brickwork of the chimney, and to help prevent water leaks as well. As a finishing touch we added two new stainless steel caps, to help prevent any unwanted water and animals from entering into the interior of the home. Before the end of the month our customer was happily looking at not only a new chimney, but a new chimney that was safe and up to code. This customer is now ready to enjoy a smooth and relaxing fire this fall and winter!
