Furnace & Water Heater Flue Repair

The furnace or water heater’s chimney is more commonly called the “Utility Flue”. Utility flues need attention and repair more often than fireplace flues, due to their daily use. Sometimes people upgrade their furnaces to the high efficiency type which are vented out the side of the home. That causes the hot water heater to vent into a flue that is too large and will now cause drafting and moisture problems. Moisture from the gasses deteriorate the flue from the inside as well as contributes to the exterior deterioration. Utility flues should be inspected annually regardless if it services one or more appliances.
