Today we were scheduled to parge a smoke chamber, tuckpoint the top 2 rows of brickwork on the exterior of 2 chimneys as well as crown seal both chimneys. The problem we thought we were going to have to address with the smoke chamber was that the damper was a unique design, which limited our reach to insulate all the way to the liner. We thought we would have to remove brick from the back of the chimney behind the smoke chamber and parge it through a small hole. This is something we have done many times and are qualified to do. However I thought that if I squeeze myself in to a tight spot, I could reach the required areas to parge. Thankfully this worked and will work great to put it up to code. This also allowed us to take off some money from the final bill for the customer and she was very thankful.
